Wedding: Charlotte & Dan

Saturday 22nd September (yes, yesterday!) saw me photograph Charlotte & Dan's Wedding. They booked me 2-years ago at Doncaster Racecourse Wedding Fayre .

Last night they should have had a slideshow, but with a silly laptop and a poorly TV - I promised them instead their own blog post, with some images taken from today.

So...here we have it, I'd love to hear your comments on the photographs :)

Starting in the morning at the Bridal Preperations, I started by photographing all the details, including the gorgeous Ian Stuart Bridal Gown, which had been custom altered for Charlotte, changing and adding things to the dress, to make this stunning one of a kind dress.

Charlotte, being a florists daughter, was always going to have stunning flowers, and this bouquet was nothing like I've seen before. All hand wired rose petals, to create this beautifully stunning bouquet. Made by Charlotte's at Hatfield.

Then it was time to set off for the church, and before Charlotte and her Dad arrived, I photographed some on Dan and best man Jamie looking a little nervous, before the ceremony started.

The ceremony, songs and readings were lovely, and as always its lovely to see a couple so in love make the move to man and wife.

And of course a Wedding wouldnt be a Wedding without a confetti shot!

Then a couple of shots at the church before heading off to Mount Pleasant Doncaster

I always try to include as many detail shots as possible into the final slideshow disc, this is because not only are they a lasting reminder of the day, but they are things that every couple has tried to make the best, paid attention to detail and no doubt stressed over at some point.

I always stress to my couples how important it is to give me about 20 minutes to 30 minutes of time solely dedicated to bride and groom portraits, sometimes this can be longer but it all depends on the couple, the weather and of course the venue(s).

The very Yummy Ice Cream was from Bumble Vee Scoops - and was just what was needed on a lovely sunny Saturday in September.

Dan and Charlotte had me booked for the full day, which saw me stay for speeches, and into the night, including staying for some of the first spot of the live evening entertainment from the Steve Love Band!

Thank you Mr and Mrs Wigglesworth for booking me as your photographer and allowing me to share your special day with you! X

...Hello... For when life gets in the way...

Hello my little blog and my readers - wow, its been a little while since I have been here and I am sorry. It has been a long time and I feel I've neglected you all a little.

Life at Blue Lights Photography has been busy, a little hectic, and all in all a fantastic year - have I ever expressed just how much I love my Job?

I promise you all I will be posting some more Weddings, Newborns and Studio sessions as I am sure you all want to know what I have been up to and see some of your images shared across the blog.

We have lots of things planned for the future too.

* I am now doing in-studio viewing and ordering sessions. I have found that quite a few people were not ordering images as they couldn’t decide what they wanted, yet couldn’t afford everything.

The in-studio viewing and ordering session isn’t about pressuring you into spending lots of money, and if you do not we will delete all your images. It isn’t that at all. Its a chance for us to get together to sit and discuss what your budget is, where you want to put your images and working together to get what you like, and within your budget and whether these two items work.

* All NEW bookings (Weddings and Newborns especially) will receive one of our new information packs. These will be sent out at time of booking and will include full contracts, information that I need returning to myself, but also information for you to keep - including a full price list for products as well as what to expect from your photography session and how to prepare.

*New Studio. The lease for the studio is up in Feb 2013, and Blue Lights Photography will be moving - we are looking around for somewhere currently, but it will not be a high street shop, and will be currently smaller than where I am now. This is for several reasons. It means I can still offer you great products and great prices that means your portraits with Blue Lights Photography are still a luxury you can afford.

I would also like to offer a big thank you to all my clients for the support and understanding they have given me over the last six weeks.

My relationship of almost 2 years broke down in the middle of one of my busiest Wedding weeks, and meant that I have slightly got behind with my editing. I would like to thank everyone for giving me the space, and the understanding whilst catching up with Wedding editing, and I will shortly be 100% back and caught up.

That’s all for now - keep your eyes peeled!

Product: Cakey Baby Book

Whenever I have parents come into the studio, they never have an idea of what type of products they want. And regardless of having samples in the office, sometimes there is no real magic until you get your own in your hand - and then you can see and feel the quality....and the pictures too!

This is our Cakey Baby Book, which is available only as either our Cakey Baby Book, or Cakey Baby Deluxe package. This "about me" keepsake book is not available on any of our other shoots.

It has a gorgeous lay-flat design, and has questions and spaces for you to write. With beautifully smooth paper, this is a perfect keepsake.

The questions are to remember how "big" or indeed how little, your little one is for their first birthday, including favourite tv shows, movies, draw around their hands and remember the little details.

These books, hold up to 30 images from the Cakey Baby Photoshoot, and are great fun for me to design. Each one has its own unique design and pages, to give the sense of difference from child to child.

Nice thick sturdy pages too!

These two images show the Cakey Baby Canvas included as well as the book in the Deluxe package, and an example of the 3 images on a Canvas to give you something different to hang on your wall.

This little keepsake album, is small enough to fit in your handbag - to show your images off to anyone you choose.

Whether you want newborn, pregnancy, studio, or even a Wedding accompaniment then this is just what you are looking for.

Each Album has either black, or grey suede effect material inside, very lovely and pretty.

Layflat pages, and the ability to have more than one image on a page, meaning just because this 6in square book only has 12 pages, you could get approximately 20-25 images in the book.

The layflat design also allows images to run over two pages, or keep them to one per page, the list is endless!

With "touchy feely" gorgeous paper, that is matt, and smooth to the touch, it'll make you want to just keep flicking through your book of images and looking at them.

These books are only £75.00 after your shoot, and are a fabulous way to treasure your images.
Bigger books are available.

Baby Bump: Kirsten

Kirsten and I became friends on facebook after I was looking for some tattooed girls who would be interested in boudoir, in the end I used fellow photographer Hannah but I never thought that a few months later I would be asking Kirsten if she had considered some bump photographs. I saw her post her (I think) 20-week bump picture on one of the facebook groups, and I was instantly blown away by her Ink, and thought of the amazing images it would capture.

So we waited until she was almost 33 weeks before having her come into the studio for some bump shots, here are a few of what we got up-to!

Even got Daddy-To-Be in for a couple, albeit he didn't want his face in them as he doesn't really do photographs!

Are you expecting? Have you been thinking of having some bump photographs done? Then look no further. Contact adele@bluelightsphotography.co.uk to discuss your bump photographs now.

A post for our Couple's between  01.11.11 and 31.10.12 we have entered The 2013 Wedding Industry Awards under Photography for the North East (I still think Yorkshire should have its own region!)

So please remember this as its important. You can vote for any entrant who you used for your wedding and you can only vote once your Wedding has taken place! (one vote per couple)

So if you have used Blue Lights Photography between the dates....or your Wedding falls within the dates, please remember to vote for us!

A Wedding Reading: A Lovely Love Story

I thought I would share one of the recent readings that I have heard at the civil ceremony of Katie and David. I had not heard it before but it was just adorable!

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage. Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur. The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur's cage with kind words and loving thoughts. I like this Dinosaur thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny. He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.

I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice. She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur. But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. He is also overly fond of things.
Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of things?

But her mind skips from here to there so quickly thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on shopping. Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping? I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual. I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thoughts and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.

Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old. Look at them. Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs. And that, my friends, is how it is with love. Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together. For the sun is warm. And the world is a beautiful place.
