Finding something to do over the summer months can be a nightmare - there is so much to do, and sometimes what feels like so little time.

Fancy a day out to the seaside but don’t fancy just a day on the beach, then head over to Yorkshire's Biggest & Best Car Boot & Market at Strawberry Fields, Bridlington!

If you fancy visiting it is every Tuesday, Thursday & Bank Holiday Monday! Open 6am-2pm but they normally advise buyers to attend from 7:30 am!

Let's get Crafty at Experience Barnsley.  Monday to Wednesday each week of the school holidays. Starting Monday 24 July until Wednesday 30 August (excluding bank holiday) you can try a new craft on a new theme. 11am-2pm Free drop in craft activities! What great fun! All children to accompanied by an adult


Tropical Butterfly House present to you the Amazing Animals Summer Holidays Event! Running from 22nd July to 5th September you get to discover the superhero skills of the animals, crafts in the activity centre plus lots more. Head over to the website to find out more! 


Magical Summer Fun at Studfold's Fairy and Pixie trail! Saturday 22nd July until Sunday 3rd September 2017

What a magical experience! Use your imagination to find the delightful tiny coloured fairies and pixies that help make Studfold's Award Wining Adventure Trail a truly magical place. Dress up or put on Studfold's Fairy Wings and Pixie hats make a Studfold Fairy and Pixie badge. Discover poems and stories and explore 20+ tiny fairy/pixie houses. Find out more over on the website


Head over to Mother Shipton's Cave for their Pirates and Mermaids Event!  

Fun for all the family every day from Wednesday 26th July to Friday 1st September. The Park opens 10am to 5.30pm (last admission 4.30pm). There are several scenic picnic areas, an adventure playground and museum and gift shop.

Be inspired by Alice in Wonderland this summer at Harewood House.

Between Saturday 29 July – Sunday 3 September 2017 the Harewood House and grounds will come to life with fun activities inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice in Wonderland. Spot the characters around the beautiful lakeside path in an exciting child-friendly trail, enjoy a game of croquet by the flamingo enclosure, and make your own Mad Hatter’s Hat in the Courtyard.

Inside the House, there will be a white rabbit eye-spy trail, as well as family friendly talks about clocks, drinking tea, mock turtle soup and more.*

*Selected activities will be taking place on the State Floor and will require a Freedom Ticket


Enjoy the Seaside in Sheffield this summer between Thur 27 Jul - Mon 28 Aug 2017 and for free!

Who doesn’t love a day out at the farm!
Trotters Farm in Scarborough has an open day on the 16th July!  Meet the piglets and a host of other farm animals. Meet the farmers and find out how they care for the animals. Be sure to take the tractor trailer tour around the farm, and find out what makes our pigs better than all the rest. Meet our suppliers, and try some of the finest food and drink that Yorkshire has to offer. There is fun for all the family, children's entertainment and games.

Over the weekend there will be flying displays and handling sessions where you will be able to hold and take your own photographs of yourselves with our special guests.

This is an event you are not going to want to miss! Head to Trinity Walk Wakefield on Sunday 6th August at 2pm as there is an attempt to smash the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering as people dressed as a princess!

Current Record is 419! Surely that can be beaten! Read more here to determine what is needed to make you count! 

Men, women and children of all ages are invited to take part, with FREE face painting, FREE glitter tattoos, FREE balloon modelling and other FREE activities taking place between 12pm and 4pm and the main record attempt count is at 2pm, lasting five minutes.

Head to the Streat Food and Family Fun Festival at Valley Gardens in Harrogate between 25-28th August.

The national 4-day celebration of some of the best street food from around the world, combined with fun and funky entertainment for all the family, enjoyed a hugely successful launch last year with more than 100,000 people descending on the town’s beautiful Valley Gardens – and there’s more to discover at this year’s festival.

Visitors will be served superlative street food from more than 60 handpicked traders alongside quirky entertainment from novel street performers, live music and children’s activities.

September Events


The Steam Fair will be at Harewood the Weekend of Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd September.

There will be a full programme of top steam fair attractions including steam engines, classic cars, vintage tractors, classic motorcycles, fairground organs, miniature steam engines, stationary engines and vintage commercials.

The event will also feature the Crazy Bears live on stage. These six bears will entertain the whole family at various times over the two days with singing, dancing and magic tricks.
