[Wedding] Mel & Richard, a perfect WedFest

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing the Wedding of Mel and Richard.

I was so excited when Mel enquired about me photographing her Wedding it sounded fabulous. A farm, a tipi from Totally Tipi and a handfasting ritual to boot! Then throw in live music what more could you want!?

I started with Mel and her bridesmaids at Smallshaw Farm Cottages & Spa where hair and makeup and girly chatter were underway. The boys were still finishing setting the teepee up and making sure that everything was perfect.

The beautiful humanist ceremony was conducted outside and we had the weather totally on our side. Rings were exchanged and a handfasting ritual too - my first ever and it was totally beautiful!

Mel and Richard had decided to have an unplugged ceremony which meant no cameras other than mine during the ceremony. It meant that whenever they turned to their guests they got to see their faces rather than the back of their phones. It also meant that their hands were free to throw confetti when they walked back up their aisle as Mr & Mrs!

After the ceremony and with a dark cloud looming, we headed out of the tipi for some shots of them with their little girl Winter, as well as with parents before everyone took their seats inside the tipi for their BBQ dinner!

When the rain started it didn't dampen anyone's spirits inside. After dinner speeches were had, given by Mel's Dad, Richard, Mel, Maid Man and the Best Man! Lots of laughs, toasts and even a sing-song by our very own Groom and Best Man!

When the rain stopped we scooted off back outside for some more photographs of the new Mr and Mrs and the groomsmen before heading back inside for the first band and first dance.

The first dance and band playing meant that everyone started the epic party that went on long after I had left. With face painting arriving around the same time as the evening guests! Who doesn't want face painting and glitter at a festival wedding!

I ended the evening after the first spot of the second band, just after we had done sparkler photographs but I know the party continued long after I had left!

Thank you both for allowing me to share your special day!
